Where to stay in Melaka

5:35 am

Hey guys, here are a few places you can consider staying at if you're looking for smth affordable.

Heeren straits

Stayed here for one night which cost us Sgd $96.39 which is pricey cause it was the christmas season & most of the other centrally located hotel were full house. Just checked Agoda & it's only $68 😒

Our welcome drink which tasted so good, I wanted a second

Our room was on the ground floor & it was quite spacious & very clean

Love the wooden flooring & deco but the marble toilet stole the show! 😍

There is breakfast provided but not in the premises. We had to walk opposite to their sister hotel, Heeren Palm Suites. Breakfast was basic, not much variety but still acceptable.

This is the premises of Heeren Palm Suites. It looked like a peranakan house & I love the vintage deco.

Heeren Straits is located at:
155 Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock
Malacca 75200

The Rucksack Caratel

Caratel = Caravan + hotel

Found this cool boutique hotel online & we couldnt resist. Paid only Sgd $59.86 as we went on a weekday. Sadly the garden view was all taken so we went for a street view room

The room didnt have double beds & was very small. Even the basin is located outside the toilet. But one thing good for lazy people like me is I get to brush my teeth without leaving the bed hahaha!

They also have bunk rooms which replicate the interior of a caravan

Lobby area with a free foosball table & swing

Their outdoor backyard space

love the pool area but we didnt have time to get a dip

look at how shiok he is!

I would recommend this place for the cosy ambience & affordability. However, it can be quite inaccessible for those not driving. It's like at some ulu corner that's near a cemetery. There is also no/limited parking available.

Airbnb

For bigger groups, you guys might wna consider Airbnb. I stayed here while on a trip with my whole family & loved it.

Here are some photos of the place: https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/16126130?s=51

It's a shophouse with 3 bedrooms which fit all 6 of us comfortably. There's also 2 common toilets which were very clean. The host, Agnes, was also very welcoming & helpful.

The location was also great because it's literally at the start of Jonker street. Like once we walked down, the first stall's just right in front of us.

Masbro village

For those who want something different & don't mind staying a distance away from the city center may consider these quaint houses for a homestay experience. Great backdrop for insta-worthy photos too.

RM288.50 per unit/night for 6 pax

Cant comment much on it cause I didnt actually stay here. You may check out more info on their facebook.

That's all for my recommendations, ciao!
