Hello guys, so recently we went to this retro cafe in Joo Chiat for Desserts. They serve meals like nasi lemak as well but silly me didn't know :X We reached there after our dinner, around 10pm. They closed at 12am that day btw. Parking was a pain in the ass as all the lots in the vicinity were taken :( We Had to walk quite a distance from where we parked. Oh & kong was so suay. After tearing the month & day from the parking coupon he asked me what the time was. It was exactly 10 & IT'S FREE PARKING AFTER 10 #suayboy
We were greeted with the red metal gates & biscuit tins which have been reused as brolly holders. As we approached our seats, we could see retro chinese records hanging on the walls. The whole ambience really had an 80's feel.
Flipping through the menu, we felt that the food was overpriced :/
This can easily be bought for a dollar or two from those ice cream uncle along orchard road.
I was put off by the price cause isn't it just ice kachang? But I still ordered it anyway cause I came here for this particular dessert.
We also ordered 2 other desserts.
Sng muay 'pop'
I admit it was really quite shiok sucking the sour ice ball hahaha but the sourness didn't last though. The drink was surprisingly fizzy & tasted refreshing!

It looks really tasty especially the coloring. But the peanut topping was a turn off for me :/ I expected the red coloring to be rose syrup but it tasted totally different, in a weird way. The other colors were fine, except the brown sugar part was too sweet.
While eating we found red bean buried in the core, along with atap seeds, jellies & many white qq pearls with soursop filling! It was the bomb (just the pearls i mean).
So the next moment onwards, both of us kept mining for it hahaha!

Love that dome shaped wall thingy. It reminds me of my ah ma's old house. Looking at it just brings back memories from when I was just 5.

Overall review:
You should at least go once. For the ambiance, not really the food. It is also a great place if you just want to sit there for a few hours chatting or watching youtube videos tgt. The place gives me the kind of chill atmosphere feeling where you won't be chased away even after eating. But go at night to avoid the crowd I guess.
