Valentine's day 2016

10:37 pm

Okay i know vday is way over but i only got the time to write about it now cause #FYP.

Started our day late as someone overslept *stares*. Went back to the place where we had our first date. Planned to rollerblade but i was too tempted to try the family bike and it was available at the moment!

$30/hour though, for the 2-3 seater we got.

It's actually quite tiring cause we have to move the whole "vehicle". It didn't help that our chain came out and had to spend so long fixing it and washing the grease off kong's hands. I think we only really cycled for 20 mins max haha! The bulk of our time was spent taking photos with my trusty tripod.

Selfie time while kong was busy washing his hands

Our own mini photoshoot hehe. Let me caption each photo just for the fun of it!
'AWKWARD FIRST SHOT'
'EH YOUR CAP BLOCKING LA'
'VAMPIRE GIRLFRIEND'
 'EH FASTER, DAMN HEAVY'

'MUHD JACK AND ROSE'
(no offence guys, just think his cap looks like a songkok)
'YOU JUMP I JUMP'
'I SAID KISS ME NOW OR ELSE'
'AFTER MANY FAILED ATTEMPTS'
'YOU'RE NOT HEAVY, YOU'RE MY BABY' -Kong

'KAPPA LOGO'

BEHIND THE SCENES

Cycled like cray back to the shop as our time was up. Kong even got down and pushed the vehicle while i steered cause it was faster this way hahaha.

After that we went back to wash up and went for dinner. Kong brought me to this place in hougang called Chef Hats, which serves western food. It was recommended by his friend and we found it not bad!

Mine: Bacon, ham & mushroom in Carbonara sauce.
It was not bad but i still like shokudo's carbonara better.
His: Grilled thyme boneless chicken thigh
I love it, wish i had ordered this.

 Gift exchange time!
Got him a cutting shears set which he wanted as well as another belated gift.

I CAN'T BELIEVE HE GOT ME THISSS!
It's a customised printed hard cover photo book which he starting working on a month ago. The cover's so pretty i cannot! (so thankful for our photoshoot photos, thanks marcus)
This made me feel so guilty as i only got his gift last minute. Haiya fyp's to blame. Next year okay, I will step up my game!

Thank you so much dear boy, i really love it!

You know how some people do not celebrate vday, labelling it as a marketing trap or what not. I actually beg to differ. Yes, many restaurants have special vday menu to extort you on this day but there are many ways people can celebrate. It could be a simple dinner at your favourite coffeeshop or cafe or just ordering pizza and chill with netflix, to cooking your own dishes. Whoever said that oh, you must go to an atas place and receive roses?

And if you think it's being over-commercialised, what about christmas? Many of us, including me and maybe you, are not even christians but still celebrate it anyway.

Oh and to those 'everyday should be vday, why only celebrate on this day' people, how bout we make everyday your birthday then? See if you celebrate it daily okay?

Point is: celebrations like this happen only once a year for a reason - so that is it special. If you don't want to celebrate it then don't. But also don't go around posting on social media about how people shouldn't and condemning it.

I can see myself celebrating vday even when i'm at my parents' age. It's one of the things that keeps the spark alive in a relationship, I feel.

Life's too short, celebrate while you can.
