5D4N HongKong Day 1

11:05 am

Booked a 605am flight so we had to wake up at 430am. Decided to try GrabCar economy to the airport as first time users have discount hehe. Paid only $8 cause we used a $11 discount code which I found online 👍 Reached the airport around 5+ but no worries as we had already done the web check-in and printed our boarding passes #shiok

Idk how but we were lucky enough to get the emergency exit seats! That's right, bigger leg space for free woohoo.

Reached hk airport & went to get our data SIM card @ 1010, situated opposite Mcdonalds. Around $20sgd for 4-5GB if I remember correctly.  Supposed to have another telco but we couldn't find it so we just settled for this.

Kong was hungry so we had macs & took a cab to our hotel in Mongkok. Walked like lost sheeps for awhile before I found the place. We booked a triple room as we wanted a bigger space but when we reached the front desk, the lady told us there was no available triple room, like Whuttt? Didn't we already reserved it? She told us to come back at around 1pm as her boss would be back so we can discuss it with her. So we went to explore around our area. Saw a H&M & went in but there was nothing cheap so we went to explore the rest of the mall which was huge!

Typical housing in hk

Walked through a random local market

Went back to the hotel but the boss was still not back?! The lady suggested we get the double room but after seeing it we didn't want to as it was too small. So...she told us to come back at 2pm... We were very annoyed & started looking for other options. Came across "prince hotel" in the same building & went to check it out & it looks promising so we were tempted to switch over. But anws, we didn't cause when the boss came back she said the triple room was ready so we moved in #okaylor

It was already 2pm+ when we set out to ngong ping 360. Took the MTR to tung chung station & had to queue quite long for the ticketing. Anws we bought the walk and motion package which consisted of a return trip (glass bottom) cable car ride, 5D show & walking with Buddha show which cost $315HKD ($58sgd) each.

Had to Queue again to board the cable car which took very long. The ride was only 20 mins so it was Okay. The scenery was awesome but scary when we looked down.

 The view beneath our feet

I think it was around 430pm when we reached ngong ping village. Starving so we went to grab a bite at Subway as it was the cheapest & fastest. Only had to pay hkd$5 as we were given a $25 meal voucher each, included in our package.

After which we stopped by somewhere (I forgotten the name) to book our return trip time slot so we can skip the Q (we were entitled to it as told by the cashier). ***Super impt thing to do, I will elaborate later below.

So we hurriedly made our way to the shows but was so disappointed whn we realised that both the shows had ended & the last screening was at 5pm!! what a waste!! Quite annoyed that the cashier didn't inform us before hand >.< Pls take note guys.

Ohya there were free roaming bulls and (sleeping) dogs around.

Feel free to give them a pat

See my pic vs kong's, I took for him one looks okay but the one he took for me the angle macam the bull banging its head against the board -.-
 #dunotolaughorcry

Anws we went to visit the Big Buddha instead. Almost died climbing up the stairs cause we're both so unfit haha.

look at the flight of stairs we conquered haha & not forgetting the view

Oh how we miss the cooling weather
Headed back at around 6 to catch the last cable car back and as expected, the queue was super Long but.....we didn't need to queue!!! As mentioned above, we had already pre-booked the return trip so we happily walked to the front of the line like a boss! So basically we only waited for less than a minute before boarding & omg I can't tell you how shiok it felt!! Watch the video below to see how many people we skipped & spot a troll hahaha.

The ride back was nice too as we got to see the night view of the city.

Reached back & spent our $25 souvenir voucher (included in the package) before heading to check out city gate outlets. Only thing there I was interested was the Nike outlet haha. Saw a high cut sneakers for $499 hkd & was so tempted to buy it. But it was only the first day so I decided to give it a miss #sobs #regret

Headed to temple street night market & had dinner at Tsui Wah Restaurant. There few quite a few stalls selling seafood but we were not in the mood for seafood.

kong & his hk milk tea and my fishball noodle soup (which is 1 of the top 10 recommended food in the menu). Can I say it did not disappoint? The fishball was so flavorful, yum yum!

This boy ordered curry rice & he didn't finish it cause it sucked haha.

Night market - so cute this stall used dim sum bowls as deco
was trying to take a wefie and this guy decided to photobombed us on purpose hahahaha!

After walking around, we realized there was nothing much we fancied. Only bought some mini Lego sets. It was quite cheap like, hdk$100 for 5 medium ones or 4 large ones. They were also selling USBs, the kind that's embedded in silicone figurines.10 USBs, 32 GB each for $100 hkd. That's like sgd $2 each. Too good to be true so we didn't waste our money and you shouldn't too. Read online that someone bought and all 10 didn't work omg! (and you can't test it until you go back, which is too late, so buyer beware).

Otw back we came across a few outdoor karaoke stalls & a whole row of fortune tellers.

Reached our hotel & took so Long to figure out how to on the heater, what a way to end the first day.
